Hello fellow Hiveans!
I recently had a chance to visit a bucket list drone location: Caerphilly Castle.
This impressive castle was once located on a field. Over time, artificial lakes were dug, a dam was added to keep the water in and the island added for increased protection.
As the castle was a strategic stronghold, it was decided that the dam should be turned into thick, fortified walls. Coupled with the huge lake/moat, it would certainly discourage any would be invaders from even attempting to attack.
It was built in the 13th Century and is the second largest castle in the UK after Windsor Castle.
Shooting into the sun makes it difficult pull out shadow details and to get good results in the edit.
Below are some snapshots of various parts of the castle and its grounds.
Lastly, here is a huge 70 image (including various exposures) top down panorama shot.
In real life, one of the towers is off kilter. However- some of the other turrets of the castle look a little off due to how the image was stitched together. Does any one know a way around it?
Maybe I should have taken less photos with a pano in mind to reduce warping?
On this occasion, I started on the outside walls and worked inwards...so next time, maybe try one shot taken exactly in the center of the castle and work out from there?
This location is lightly scratched off my list. I want to improve on the shots I have taken.
I had to send the 4 Pro off for repair so these images are from my trusty Mini 2. I think it still has capability to produce good imagery but I really want to try again when I have the one back.
Onwards and upwards!
