Uzhhorod-Lisbon, day 9. Balaton!!!

December 2019 · 2 min read · Székesfehérvár

In the morning I said goodbye to my yesterday's host, Zoltan, and started another day of cycling. The plan was to get to Balaton lake and continue as far as I can (without being exhaused).

On my way, there was (as I read after visiting it) the medieval capital of Hungary!

I bet you had never been in Székesfehérvár, or even now about it, if not belonging to Hungarian nationality, or being an expert on Hungarian history. Me too.

So, it was a big surprise to find this small town with medieval buildings.

I spent few hours, just cycling around it's pedestrian-only streets and looking for some nice photo opportunities.

Close to the evening arrived to Balaton lake, tried to find a good place for wild camping. But there were only privat territories, caffees or just places looking not good for putting my tent on the ground. Even tresspassed somebody's abandoned country house, but stuck in the bushes, so long uninhabited it was.

Decided to cycle a few kilometers more and found a shore free to access, with few fisherman. Going to sleep here.

Wild camping isn't prohibited in Hungary. Love this country :).
