... and after driving for for a few hours, we took a little bit of time to settle into our cabin. Just to unpack and then have a little bit of a snooze and then we were ready to go exploring around the campsite.

Hidden Creek isn't a large campsite, and apparently a lot of the tent campers had left earlier in the day (we arrived on a Monday, and apparently people work on Mondays?).

... the entire campsite is based on a loop, with the campers down near the creek area, and the cabins a bit uphill on the entrance and exit of the loop, near the office. The entry and exit are both controlled by a boom gate with a code entry... so, I guess that helps keep out the noisy ones!

But noise... wow, the cicadas were quite a rowdy bunch in the summertime days!

About 100 metres further down from the cabins brings us to the camping area proper, along with many fire pits and some simple amenities. The campsite is backed by a flowing creek, and when we had walked down here, there were a few people in swimming as well as a family fishing.

... and speaking of fishing, the entire muddy area of the creek sides was completely covered with little crabs about the size of the top part of a thumb! All going skittering back into their holes upon approach, and then slowly peeking out and getting back to eating after a little bit of time.

... and as I had said, quite a large number of firepits scattered around the site with lots of firewood available to purchase up in the site store.

Also, in the background, you can see the canoes that were possible to hire if you want to go up and down the creek.

Getting back around the loop and back into the cabin areas on the opposite side to our cabins... we were met by the female peacock and all the little ones.. five of them. These guys just roam around the place... all in charge!

... and of course, the king peacock itself!

Yes, we did end up using the firepit on the last night. The girls really wanted to roast marshmallows on an open fire... and so we got one started up, and had a little barbeque and sit around the open fire... a lovely end to the trip!
