Easter Monday is a public holiday in Germany and I met up with a very good friend for a morning walk along the Neckar. Spring is already peeking out in some places and I wanted to share a few impressions with you.
The starting point is at the camping site in Mörtelstein and stretches along a narrow path on the steep side to the Neckar. We passed an abundance of fresh wild garlic slopes and the air was filled with it.
Characteristic for this area is the red sandstone, with which many a weekend house is built - of course, my trained eye immediately found the beehive next to it.
Somewhat hidden on the side of the path we found an inscription from the past, which was chiselled into the red sandstone
"Long live social democracy"
and right next to it an explanatory sign with the following text
During the period of socialist persecution, around 1880 to 1890, a worker whose name is not known carved this inscription. He served time in prison for it. We commemorate this champion of democracy and social justice.
My friend said,
"And now where are we today in 2021?"
