[PL / ENG] A Day in Nature: The Forest Park of Surprises in Ustroń

Z dziesięciodniowym poślizgiem prezentuję miejsce, które odwiedziliśmy podczas naszych ferii w Ustroniu: Leśny Park Niespodzianek.

With a ten-day delay, I present the place we visited during our holidays in Ustroń: Forest Park of Surprises.

Najpierw, żeby nikogo nie ominęło :p wrzucę dwa filmy, które sobie stamtąd zmontowałam. Wgrałam je wczoraj na 3speak, a że korzystam z tego chyba po raz pierwszy, to trochę mi nie wyszło tak jak chciałam. Chciałam bowiem wgrać te filmy, żeby zamieścić je w tym poście, a one się opublikowały jako oddzielne posty również. Trudno. Mają być tu więc tu też będą. :)

First, so that no one misses it :p I'll throw in two films that I edited from there. I uploaded them yesterday to 3speak, and since I'm using it for the first time, it didn't work out the way I wanted. I wanted to upload these films to include them in this post, but they were published as separate posts as well. Too bad. They're supposed to be here, so they'll be here too. :)

Nie ukrywam, że sowy uwielbiam, a ptaki drapieżne budzą we mnie podziw, więc jak się domyślacie, ta wycieczka podobała mi się ogromnie. Tak, mi najbardziej z całej naszej czwórki ;p Bombel nie był aż tak zachwycony jak ja, ale i tak dość mu się podobały zwierzątka (przy pokazie sów trochę już się nudził).
W każdym razie słowem wstępu: przed wybraniem się do Leśnego Parku Niespodzianek należy sobie zweryfikować na ich stronie godziny pokazów, bo to jest coś, po co się tam idzie, naprawdę warto.

I won't hide the fact that I love owls, and birds of prey arouse admiration in me, so as you can imagine, I enjoyed this trip immensely. Yes, I enjoyed it the most out of the four of us ;p Bombel wasn't as thrilled as I was, but he still liked the animals quite a bit (he got a bit bored during the owl show).
Anyway, a word of introduction: before going to the Forest Park of Surprises, you should check the show times on their website, because this is something you go there for, it's really worth it.

Ceny zimowe to 45 zł dla osoby dorosłej i 35 zł dla dziecka, latem jest chyba drożej, i kojarzę, że chyba latem drożej w weekendy niż w dni robocze (mogę się mylić).

W cenie biletu dla gości park oferuje:
– pobyt całodzienny w godzinach otwarcia,
– pokazy lotów ptaków drapieżnych (sezon letni o godz.: 11:00, 14:00, 16:00) ,
(sezon zimowy o godz.: 11:00, 14:00)
– pokazy lotów sów ( sezon letni o godz.: 12:00, 15:00) , ( sezon zimowy o godz.: 12:00)
– ścieżkę edukacyjną, miejsca widokowe,
– aleję bajkową z ruchomymi ekspozycjami bajek,
– Centrum Edukacji Przyrodniczo-Leśnej,
– bezpłatny plac zabaw za wyjątkiem urządzeń napędzanych elekt.,

Winter prices are 45 PLN for an adult and 35 PLN for a child, in the summer it is probably more expensive, and I think it is more expensive in the summer on weekends than on weekdays (I could be wrong).

The price of the ticket for guests includes:

Pokaz lotów ptaków drapieżnych

Przyszliśmy specjalnie w samą porę na pierwszy pokaz. Jest on zorganizowany na takiej górce, więc aby zdążyć z wózkiem i Bomblem w sankach, musieliśmy się trochę sprężyć, ale się udało na szczęście. Na górce jest widownia i ławki, rozpościera się stamtąd ładny i szeroki widok, w oddali widać góry.

Birds of Prey Flight Show

We arrived just in time for the first show. It is organized on a hill, so in order to make it with the stroller and Bomble in the sled, we had to hurry a bit, but luckily we managed. There is an audience and benches on the hill, and there is a nice, wide view from there, with mountains in the distance.

Punktualnie o wyznaczonej godzinie pojawił się pan z pierwszym myszołowem. Pokaz jest super: ptak leci z punktu do punktu, można mu się przyjrzeć z dala i bliska, pan naprawdę ciekawie opowiada o danym osobniku, warto posłuchać i popatrzeć.

At the appointed time, the gentleman appeared with the first buzzard. The show is great: the bird flies from point to point, you can look at it from a distance and up close, the gentleman tells a really interesting story about the individual, it is worth listening and watching.

Ptaki są tak szybkie, że nie jest łatwo zrobić im udane zdjęcie w locie. No ale można i warto próbować, bo jest to coś pięknego.

The birds are so fast that it is not easy to take a successful photo of them in flight. But it is possible and worth trying, because it is something beautiful.

Drugi ptak to przepiękna aguja rdzawogrzbieta, z czym trochę kłóci się moje google, ale akurat nagrałam fragment pana, który przedstawiał tego ptaka, i raczej nie mam powodów, żeby mu nie wierzyć.

The second bird is a beautiful red-backed aguja, which my Google searches are a bit inconsistent with, but I happened to record a clip of the gentleman who was presenting the bird, and I have no reason not to believe him.

Każdy z tych drapieżnych ptaków ma zupełnie inną metodę lotu i polowania, o czym możemy się dowiedzieć z ciekawej opowieści przewodnika. Pikujący sokół na ofiarę to niesamowity widok, nawet przewodnik wygląda na przestraszonego w tym momencie.

Each of these birds of prey has a completely different method of flight and hunting, which we can learn from the guide's interesting story. A falcon swooping down on its prey is an amazing sight, even the guide looks scared at this moment.

Pokaz niestety nie trwa długo, albo może to mi czas tak błyskawicznie minął na oglądaniu czegoś, co mnie fascynuje. W każdym razie mamy niecałą godzinę do drugiego pokazu - w sowiarni, która jest jeszcze wyżej, a droga do niej - jeszcze bardziej stroma. Można też pójść naokoło, ścieżką ekologiczną, oglądając piękne orły w klatkach, ale na samym końcu tejże drogi stromizna jest jeszcze większa i tam na wózek nie ma szans.

The show unfortunately doesn't last long, or maybe it's just that time flew by so quickly watching something that fascinates me. In any case, we have less than an hour until the second show - in the owlery, which is even higher, and the path to it - even steeper. You can also go around, on an ecological path, watching beautiful eagles in cages, but at the very end of this path the slope is even steeper and there is no chance for a stroller there.

Mała awantura z mężem, którego zdaniem wspinaczka z dziećmi do sów to samobójstwo, oraz z Bomblem, który postanowił się nie słuchać i próbować przełazić na przełaj (zimą! po stromej, ośnieżonej i pełnej kamieni górce!) i udało się, jesteśmy przy sowiarni.

Owl flight show

A small argument with my husband, who thinks climbing with children to the owls is suicide, and with Bomble, who decided not to listen and tried to climb cross-country (in winter! on a steep, snowy and rocky hill!) and we succeeded, we are at the owlery.

Wiele osób uważa sowy również za ptaki drapieżne i sądzi, że polują w nocy, bo doskonale wtedy widzą, a w dzień za bardzo razi je słońce, czy coś.
Nic bardziej mylnego, rzekł pan przewodnik. Sowy polują w nocy, bo wtedy nie ma ptaków drapieżnych. W dzień same mogą stać się ich ofiarami. Polowanie w nocy jest więc strategią przetrwania, ale sowy równie dobrze radzą sobie w dzień, gdyby nie naturalni wrogowie, nie musiałyby polować w nocy.

Many people also consider owls to be birds of prey and think that they hunt at night because then they can see perfectly, and during the day the sun is too bright for them or something. Nothing could be further from the truth, said the guide. Owls hunt at night because then there are no birds of prey. During the day they themselves can become their victims. Hunting at night is therefore a survival strategy, but owls do just as well during the day, if it weren't for their natural enemies, they wouldn't have to hunt at night.

Kolejnym mitem odnośnie sów jest to, że są mądre - mądre ptaki to papugi lub kawki, a sowom nie można przypisać tej cechy.
Tu akurat nie wiem, czy panu przewodnikowi wierzyć, przecież sowy są najwspanialsze na świecie.

Another myth about owls is that they are wise - wise birds are parrots or jackdaws, and owls cannot be attributed with this feature.
I don't know whether to believe the guide here, after all owls are the most wonderful in the world.

Muszę przyznać, że lot sów nie robił aż takiego wrażenia jak tych ptaków drapieżnych, ale też są piękne, majestatyczne i fajnie łapią ofiarę w łapki podczas lotu.

I must admit that the flight of owls was not as impressive as that of birds of prey, but they are also beautiful, majestic and they are great at catching prey in their paws while flying.

No i kolejna ściema: sowy nie robią u-hu. To znaczy, podobno niektóre robią. Ale te osobniki tutaj ani myślą. Puchacz poniżej raczej woła NIE! niż u-hu. Ot, buntownik.

And another lie: owls don't go u-hu. Well, apparently some do. But these guys here don't think. The eagle owl below is more likely to call NO! than u-hu. That's a rebel.

Dzikie zwierzęta

Po pokazach można zrobić sobie spacer po całym parku, jest przepiękny i naprawdę dużo można zobaczyć. Ja namówię resztę na powrót latem, bo było nam już zwyczajnie zimno, więc ów spacer ograniczyliśmy do niespiesznego powrotu do auta, a szkoda. Z tego powodu, że możesz sobie pochodzić wśród dzikich zwierząt, które wcale, a wcale się ciebie nie boją.

Wild animals

After the shows you can take a walk around the entire park, it's beautiful and you can really see a lot. I'll convince the rest of you to come back in the summer, because we were simply cold, so we limited the walk to a leisurely return to the car, which is a shame. Because you can walk among wild animals that are not afraid of you at all, not at all.

Przy zakupie biletów kasjerka oferuje karmę dla zwierząt. Szczerze mówiąc nie polecam jej zakupu. Zwierzęta były tak najedzone, że miały ją w nosie :D Dzików karmić nie wolno, a te co wolno - mają karmy powyżej dziurek w nosie i szukają jakiejkolwiek zdechłej trawki pod śniegiem.

When buying tickets, the cashier offers food for animals. Honestly, I do not recommend buying it. The animals were so full that they could not stand it :D You cannot feed wild boars, and those that are allowed - have food above their nostrils and look for any dead grass under the snow.

Oczywiście nie wszystkie zwierzęta biegają luźno - piękne jelenie, a także żubry, są za ogrodzeniem, ale tak blisko, że jak na wyciągnięcie ręki. Dużo bliżej niż na przykład w żubrowiskach w Pszczynie.

Of course, not all animals run freely - beautiful deer, as well as bison, are behind the fence, but so close that it is like within arm's reach. Much closer than, for example, in the bison habitats in Pszczyna.

Ładnie jest, ale szczerze mówiąc po tych ptasich pokazach, te łażące luźno ssaki nie robią wielkiego wrażenia, przynajmniej na mnie. :) Oprócz zwierząt jest też wystawa bajek dla dzieci, a na dole plac zabaw wśród biegających luźno lam. No słowem: miejscówka genialna. Obowiązkowa do odwiedzenia również latem, choć obawiam się, że latem może być tak tłoczno, że nie będzie ani w połowie tak fajnie jak w lutym.

It's nice, but to be honest, after the bird shows, these freely roaming mammals don't make much of an impression, at least not on me. :) In addition to the animals, there's also an exhibition of fairy tales for children, and downstairs a playground among freely running llamas. In a word: a brilliant place. A must-see in the summer, too, although I'm afraid that in the summer it might be so crowded that it won't be half as nice as in February.
