This is not a new story. I lived it before the beginning of Covid pandemic, but I keep it as one wonderful and unforgettable memory so, I felt I had to share it at some point. Then, I found this TravelFeed site and thought... Hey, this is the place!!!

Baracoa was the first city ever founded in Cuba, in 1511.

Although living very far away from here, in the Cuba capital city, Havana, one day I landed here in Baracoa and felt in love with this place immediately. The first reason I came this far is my wife, whose parents still live around. The old, classic, colonial air that you can still breath here is charming.

A few steps away from the town's center area (yes, I mean only a few, this place is really small) you can have a whole different experience: it's incredible nature, one of a kind in the whole country. Among all of its treasures, there's one geographical symbol imposible not to see firsthand: the so called "Baracoa's Anvil". It's a mountain with a flattened top of 560 meters of height above sea level. That top has a flat and very rough slope as a result of the intense karsification. It was declared a National Monument in 1980 for being a site of extraordinary natural and landscape values. It also has a high degree of conservation and endemism.

It was a short trip, since we had to come back to my wife's parents place, but I left feeling I had to come back, that many things were still about to see.

Thank you so much for reading and the opportunity to share my experiences with you. Stay tuned for more! Cheers!
