Chatuchak-ing All The Way! (The First Time A Market Overwhelmed Me!)

December 2019 · 2 min read

I have experienced shopping in some of craziest markets here in Asia and as an Indian have also been taught well to function in super crowded places. BUT.... wandering around the Chatuchak Weekend market in Bangkok took things to a whole new level! I had only a few hours to shop before catching my flight to home which also added to the pre existing rush.

I had been traveling with @firepower, @varunpinto and @wandereronwheels after @steemfest and it was last day in the country. Just 10 minutes into the market and we felt like an information overload on our senses! The insane variety of food, clothing, and almost whatever you can imagine blew our minds and nearly left us dazed lol. Plus the crowd was one of a kind! Being someone who is accustomed to such environments and still feeling so wide eyed was a very interesting experience for me :D

MMMMM THIS. I was not too sure of trying this out when the others were getting it but one bite was all it took and I think I kept hogging it! It had jelly, some soft coconut peels, coconut ice cream and sticky rice. The combination was incredibly delicious and we got a mango one as well!

Just when we thought that we had explored at least 15-20 % of the market, we stumbled upon another building which looked small so we decided to take a quick look. WE WERE SO WRONG LOL. I silently named this building “blackhole” because it suddenly looked infinite with never ending galleries! The variety of stuff got even crazier!

I got some scarfs, clothing pieces, lights, gifts, and some decor stuff and would have definitely explored more if I weren't running late. At least this cutie was really happy around the lights haha. I really hope to visit this place soon in the future!
